Willard Powell is a talent acquisition services firm, with core competency in competitive research, talent acquisition, training and advisory. We focus specifically on assisting you in building teams, which includes hiring individual team members, so that together we can build a better world. Founded by David McInnis, the company was structured to encourage an inclusive and positive corporate culture. The company is dedicated to organizational development and prosperity for employees, clients, shareholders, and trusted advisors. The shared vision at Willard Powell embraces a set of core values based on good character, self-development, helping others in need, and a genuine desire to realize our full potential as a team.
David was first introduced to these ideas while attending Lasell College just outside of Boston in Newton, Massachusetts. One of the school’s founding contributors, Emma Willard, wrote a book in 1857 entitled “Willard’s Morals: Good Principles for Instilling Wisdom.” David found that the book’s lessons are as meaningful now in the information age as they were during the industrial revolution. The culture of “Connected Learning” at Lasell College encourages discovery and creation within and beyond the classroom, creating a highly inclusive and entrepreneurial environment. Now on the Board of Lasell, David understands the importance of great culture and along with his business colleagues, are fostering the very same culture at Willard Powell today.
In an effort to keep pace with the market and improve our research process with new tools and processes, Willard Powell launched Willard Powell University (WillPowerU) in 2014. WillPowerU is an internal initiative to hire, train, and empower college, graduate students, and working Mothers. Research Associates within WillPowerU are encouraged to share and develop their ideas on the future of our business in a more digital world. Research Associates here at Willard Powell make a profound impact on the direction of the firm, the services that we offer you and ultimately the way in which we make a positive impact on the world.
FINDING WHAT MOTIVATES TALENTED PEOPLE
Willard Powell was founded in New York City and eventually moved to Connecticut in 2014. This decision was made to provide a better lifestyle for the employees, who at that time were all residents of Connecticut. In 2016, an effort began to hire and support Mothers in re-entering the workforce. Over the last several years, Willard Powell has expanded across growth markets including North Carolina and Texas. In 2019, Willard Powell partnered with ViaTrustUSA, Inc., to empower Veteran and Military families, with a particular focus on empowering the Military spouse.
Competitive research and talent acquisition businesses have supported high growth firms for generations, but technology and social media are rapidly disrupting the way in which recruitment firms conduct business today. Here at Willard Powell, we work to automate talent research efforts, visualize data, and assess impactful social media analytics.
This approach helps us facilitate talent discussions with clients and develop recruitment strategies. Willard Powell supplements this approach with a human-to-human research process that is directed from our assessment of talent data.
